The University of North Carolina Wilmington announced last month that Kristen Brogdon will assume the role of director of the school’s Office of the Arts, according to a news release.

She officially starts her position on July 1, but began transitioning into the role as part-time director on June 1.

The position will oversee all arts programming from UNCW’s five academic departments and student-supported units that were previously housed under Academic Affairs and Student Affairs.

Brogdon's previously held positions were: general manager of Hubbard Street Dance in Chicago, director of dance programming at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., and general manager of the Suzanne Farrell Ballet, also part of the Kennedy Center.

Brogdon earned a bachelor’s of arts in economics from Duke University. She received a master’s of arts in business from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
