Timothy J. Oster has joined the organization's Neurology team, according to a news release. Oster diagnoses and treats disorders of the central and peripheral nervous systems, which include the brain, spinal cord, and nerves in the body. He also has expertise and a special interest in concussions and traumatic brain injury, the release stated.
After receiving his medical degree from the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Denver, he remained there to complete his internship in internal medicine and residency in neurology, the release stated. He also performed fellowships in neurobehavioral medicine and behavioral neurology and neuropsychiatry at the University of Colorado. Prior to joining Wilmington Health, he was a neuro-hospitalist with New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
Oster's practice is at 1222 Medical Center Drive in Wilmington.
Braunstein honored
Seth Braunstein (
below),of Wilmington Health Endocrinology, has been recognized as one of
the top doctors in his field, which consists of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism, the health care organization announced recently. Braunstein was nominated for this recognition by other physicians throughout the country.
“It’s a privilege and an honor to receive this recognition from my peers,” Braunstein said in a news release. “I am committed to providing the best possible care to my patients.”
Braunstein will be among other honored physicians in an annual guide to the nation’s top one percent of medical specialists, which is published by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. This list is comprised through surveys completed by top-notch physicians throughout the U.S., the release stated.
Labs accredited
Wilmington Health announced recently that its labs at Porters Neck (8018-B Market Street, Wilmington) and North Chase (4320 Henson Drive, Wilmington) have met all criteria for laboratory accreditation by the Commission on Office Laboratory Accreditation (COLA), a national health care accreditation organization. Accreditation is given only to laboratories that apply rigid standards of quality in day-to-day operations, demonstrate continued accuracy in the performance of proficiency testing, and pass a rigorous on-site laboratory survey, Wilmington Health officials stated in a news release.
COLA is approved by the federal government and sponsored by the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American Medical Association, and the American College of Physicians-American Society of Internal Medicine, according to the release.
