Jimmy Neil is the new general manager of Live Oak Bank’s Pharmacy Division.

Neil comes to Wilmington-based Live Oak Bank from Cardinal Health, where he spent 16 years and was most recently the company’s vice president of pharmacy transition and investment strategy for the Retail Independent segment, according to a news release. Prior to that, Neil spent four years with the Small Business Administration, lending to more than 1,500 small businesses.

He is also a co-owner of two independent pharmacies in Louisiana, the release stated.

“His experience working with pharmacies in various stages of ownership transition enables him to add tremendous value to customers seeking financing,” Neil Underwood, Live Oak Bank’s president, said in the release. “We’re thrilled to have him on board.”

Live Oak Bank’s primary mission is to provide SBA loans to individuals in specific fields – including pharmacy – for purchase and expansion of businesses.
