Wilmington Health has announced several additions to its practices in the Wilmington area.
 
Carlos Arrieta, M.D. recently joined Wilmington Health Cardiology as a cardiac electrophysiology physician, the health care organization announced recently. As an electrophysiologist, Arrieta has training in the diagnosis and treatment of heart rhythm disorders.
 
“I chose the sub-specialty of electrophysiology for multiple reasons. Arrhythmias now represent a major source of morbidity and mortality in our patients,” Arrieta said in a news release. “Being able to provide technologies to patients who actually are able to change their lives is a blessing. From ablations to implantable devices, electrophysiology provides the tools to make these changes possible.”
 
Arrieta earned his M.D. degree from the Universidad Del Norte, Barranquilla, Colombia. His internal medicine residency was performed at Canton Medical Education Foundation, and his cardiovascular diseases fellowship was completed at Illinois Masonic Medical Center, according to the release. He is currently a member of the American College of Physicians, American Medical Association, and the American College of Cardiology.

Wilmington Health Surgery and Vascular Surgery, at 1202 Medical Center Drive, has welcomed its newest provider, Danny Barzana, D.O. (at left). As a surgeon, he will offer peripheral artery diseases (PAD) and abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) screenings, varicose vein treatments, and carotid stenting for the prevention of strokes, according to a news release from Wilmington Health, which added that Barzana, as a thoracic vascular surgeon, also treats aortic aneurysms and dissection as well as vascular thoracic outlet syndrome.
 
Barzana graduated with his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He was a general surgery resident and finished his surgical internship at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, then completed his vascular surgery fellowship at the University of Tennessee in Memphis.
 
The Wilmington Health Hospitalist team welcomes Lauren Wilson, M.D., (at right) who is delivering hospitalist care at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington and Dosher Memorial Hospital in Southport, according to a news release. Wilson treats a wide range of acute illnesses in the hospital and works to provide a quality continuum of care between Wilmington Health’s primary care and specialty providers, the release stated.
 
“As a hospitalist, it is my responsibility to not only treat patients but work with them to ensure their medical conditions are coordinated between their medical home and hospital,” she said in the release.
 
Wilson was the chief resident and given the award of Intern of the Year at New Hanover Regional Medical Center Department of Internal Medicine. She received a B.S. in chemistry at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and earned her medical degree at the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine, the release stated.
 
Philippe Bulauitan, M.D. is the newest provider at Wilmington Health Family Medicine at Oak Island, according to an announcement from the health care organization.
 
A Boston College graduate with a B.S. degree, Bulauitan (at left) went on to earn his medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine, a news release stated. His family medicine internship and residency were completed at Duke/SR-AHEC Family Medicine Residency Program.
 
Bulauitan is a member of the Philippine Medical Association in America (PMAA), Physicians for Human Rights, North Carolina Academy of Family Physicians, and American Academy of Family Physicians.
