Mahan Appointed To McKim Board Of Directors

McKim & Creed Inc. appointed Live Oak Bank CEO Chip Mahan to its board of directors, according to a news release.

McKim & Creed is an engineering, surveying and planning firm founded in Wilmington with offices throughout the South.

The board welcomed Mahan at the company’s recent shareholders meeting. His background in finance includes serving as chairman and CEO of Citizens Union National Bank & Trust, as well as founding Security First Network Bank, the world’s first Internet bank.

He received a B.S. in finance from Washington and Lee University.
In 2007, Mahan established Live Oak Bank, which has since grown to become “one of the largest originators of small bank loans with one of the strongest portfolios in the country,” according to a news release.

Mahan will serve on the board of directors along with Fred Day, retired president and CEO of Progress Energy Carolinas; Diane Creel, former chairwoman, CEO and president of Ecovation and Earth Tech; Ken Garcia, CEO and founder of New Prospect Holdings LLC; Michael W. Creed, chairman and CEO of McKim & Creed; and Herb McKim Jr., chief operations officer at McKim & Creed.

McKim & Creed is an employee-owned firm offering a variety of engineering services for the municipal, energy, development and institutional markets.
