WilmingtonBiz Talk: Philanthropic Giving

By Staff Reports, posted Jul 29, 2021
A study released this week showed that only about half of the households in the U.S. donated to charitable organizations in 2018, down to the lowest point in decades. Giving from corporations and foundations, however, increased then, according to the annual Giving USA report.

With the latest national look, we took the opportunity on this week’s BizTalk to check on the local landscape when it comes to giving trends and impacts on the nonprofit sector.

Patrick Brien, Cape Fear Collective CEO, and Sarah Daniels, the recently appointed director of UNCW’s Quality Enhancement for Nonprofit Organizations (QENO), shared what kinds of trends and issues they are seeing from their research and years of working with local nonprofits.
