Domestic Violence Shelter and Services Inc. has hired Lauren Daley as its new executive director, according to a news release.

Daley started her role with the domestic violence agency, which serves New Hanover County, on Oct. 1, officials said. She takes on the role previously held by Mary Ann Lama, who served the organization for 35 years.

Daley previously served the organization as director of operations and development for the past six years, stated the release.

“Lauren brings fundraising and agency expertise and a history of support for DVSS staff with her," said Jennifer Presnell, DVSS board president, in the release. "We feel confident that she will provide a smooth transition and continue the agency’s mission in our community."

She earned a master's degree in public administration with a nonprofit management concentration from the University of North Carolina Wilmington.

She is also vice president of the Association of Fundraising Professionals – Cape Fear Region and vice president of the UNCW Cape Fear Area Alumni Chapter.
