A long list of companies based in the Wilmington area are finalists for NC Tech Awards this year.
In the category of Technology Corporate Awards, NC Tech "recognizes technology companies for innovation, excellence and growth," states NC Tech's website. The following are the Wilmington finalists for these corporate awards:
BioTech/HealthTech Company
- Predicate Healthcare Performance Group: The winner of this year's Coastal Entrepreneur of the Year Award in Wilmington, Predicate HPG uses its AI software platform, OpenDX, to help health care providers diagnose sepsis, a deadly infection that can often go undetected due to its array of symptoms.
CleanTech Company
- Koolbridge Solar Inc.: This company "designs and develops electrical products that help support the global utilization of alternatie energy," according to a Koolbridge news release. The company's "patent-protected products increase energy efficiency while reducing energy costs," the release stated. Its Koolbridge Solar Smart Load Center caputres and manages two or more incoming sources of energy and then distributes and manages it throughout a home on a circuit-by-cirucuit bases simultaneously, "which offers the homeowner better control over their home's energy flow while providing substantial cost savings." Of being named an NC Tech Awards finalist, Bill Griffin, president and CEO of Koolbridge Solar, stated, "Our team has worked hard during the last few years to develop a product that will significantly impact the expanded usage of alternative energy and move homeowners closer and faster to net zero home energy costs."
FinTech/InsurTech Company
- Lumos Technologies Inc. DBA Lumos Data: A financial data analytics firm, Lumos Technologies announced in July that its newest seed funding round at the time totaled $2 million.
- Vantaca: A cloud-based community association management software company, Vantaca is headquartered on Wrightsville Avenue in Wilmington and was founded in 2017.
NC TECH HQ Company
- Apiture: A provider of digital banking solutions based in Wilmington, Apiture was also named Best Digital Banking System in the 2024 Banking Tech Awards USA, an honor announced in June.
NC Tech's Use of Technology Awards recognize "companies, organizations, institutions and/or collaborations for their use of technology," according to the website. In that category from Wilmington:
Manufacturing + Supply Chain
- Ohanafy: A beverage supply chain technology company founded in 2021, Ohanafy was in the process in March of securing $3 million in funding.
NC Tech's top 10 tech startups to watch include these Wilmington-area companies:
- Artemis Immersive: Headquartered in Ocean Isle Beach, Artemis Immersive creates digital renderings of medical scans that can be viewed in an augmented reality (AR) setting. Users can wear virtual reality headsets to view the renderings or view them on their phones using a scannable QR code.
- Lumos Technologies Inc. DBA Lumos Data
- Nuream Inc.: A sleep technology company, Nuream launched its first line of customized mattresses and pillowcases featuring sustainable hypoallergenic and all-natural materials at the end of August.
The NC Tech Awards event "brings together leaders from technology, business, education, and government to celebrate growth, innovation, and leadership in the state’s vibrant tech sector," according to the organization's website. The finalists and winners will be honored Dec. 3 at the Raleigh Convention Center.
