Charlotte-based fiber internet provider Ripple Fiber is acquiring CloudWyze’s residential fiber internet network, company officials announced this week.
With the acquisition, Wilmington-based CloudWyze plans an expansion of its managed IT service offerings to businesses and small-medium enterprises, according to a news release, and “refocus on its core mission as an IT managed service provider and commercial internet provider, with an increased emphasis on cybersecurity solutions.”
“For fiber customers in Nash, Harnett and Martin counties, this transition is set to enhance service to all fiber internet customers,” the release stated. “CloudWyze will retain ownership and management of their fixed wireless networks in Nash and Harnett counties.”
Officials did not disclose the deal’s terms.
“At our core, CloudWyze has always been a strong partner to the communities we serve, so we’re excited to refocus on our roots while implementing new technologies to provide a stronger, more secure managed IT experience for our clients.” CloudWyze President and CEO Shaun Olsen said in the release.
“In our years of work with businesses, we’ve found that most small businesses and smaller enterprises are unaware that their size can make them prime targets for attackers and without the extensive recovery resources of larger organizations, a data breach can be catastrophic for these local businesses,” he added. “That is why we are focusing heavily on prevention, detection and response with our new features.”
