Wilmington Startups Make NC TECH Awards List

By Staff Reports, posted Sep 29, 2022
Wilmington companies are being recognized by the NC TECH Awards, an annual statewide technology awards program, according to a press release Thursday.

Apiture was named a finalist in the fintech and insurtech company category, and Essential Personnel is one of the top tech startups to watch.

This awards program recognizes companies, organizations and individuals for their achievement, innovation and leadership throughout the year, the release stated.

Finalists were selected after a nomination period earlier this year, and the winners were selected in a two-stage review process. The selection committee included Network for Entrepreneurs in Wilmington and the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce and was led by firm Cherry Bekaert.

“This year’s award finalists represent outstanding contributions to the state through job creation, technological advancements, and community improvement. We are pleased to recognize these companies and organizations which have demonstrated success in the technology sector," Megan Hutchinson, CPA and partner at Cherry Bekaert, said in the release.

In addition, the program includes Use of Technology Awards recognizing companies, organizations, institutions and/or collaborations for their use of technology and Individual Awards including Tech CEO of the Year and Tech Woman of the Year.

“We have another great class of finalists this year from across the state, so we expect an exciting celebration of North Carolina’s vibrant and growing tech sector,” said Brooks Raiford, president and CEO of NC TECH.

Winners will be announced at the NC TECH Awards Gala on Nov. 29 in Raleigh. Click here to view the total list of finalists.
