Children’s Museum Enters Virtual Reality Realm

By Staff Reports, posted Jun 29, 2018
The Children’s Museum of Wilmington recently launched a new permanent exhibit that incorporates a virtual reality experience to help children see inside the human body.

Among the displays in the museum’s “The Science of You” exhibit, the VR system lets users travel virtually through a bloodstream “to see how blood cells distribute oxygen or fight deadly viruses, or they can take a trip through the inside of a heart,” according to a press release.

The VR system also lets children make 3-D drawings they can manipulate or travel inside.

nCino sponsored the system, and volunteers from the locally based fintech company worked with the museum to design the VR space.

“The Science of You exhibit will enable children to see what is inside their bodies, how it differs from other mammals, and how the stuff on the inside lets us see, smell and hear everything on the outside,” Jim Karl, The Children’s Museum executive director, said in the release.

The museum opened the exhibit June 30.
