Local Firms Rank On Entrepreneur’s 360 List

By Cece Nunn, posted Jan 23, 2018
Several companies with local ties made it on the Entrepreneur 360 list of the “Best Entrepreneurial Companies in America” for 2017.

GigSalad, which has a co-founder and office based in Wilmington, was ranked No. 15 on the magazine’s list. Wilmington-based MegaCorp Logistics was ranked No. 56, and Wilmington-based Untappd came in at No. 98.

Entrepreneur identifies 360 small, privately owned businesses each year “that master the art and science of growing a business,” according to a news release. These businesses are evaluated on impact, innovation, growth and leadership.

Steve Tetrault, the GigSalad co-founder based in Wilmington, said in the release, “GigSalad started in 2004 as a one-page website promising work for performers, and has grown to over 100,000 musicians, entertainers, and vendors receiving millions of gig opportunities and getting booked by individuals and corporations planning special events.”

MegaCorp Logistics, founded by Denise and Ryan Legg in 2009, specializes in full truckload and lessthan- truckload shipments throughout the U.S., Canada and Mexico.

“We are extremely honored to be named to this prestigious list by such a highly regarded publication,” said Ryan Legg, CEO of MegaCorp, in a news release.

Untappd, a tech startup that operates out of downtown Wilmington, "gives the ability to easily find nearby craft beers and bars, see what beers are trending, as well as see where friends are drinking," according to the list.

Correction: This version adds Untappd's placement on the Entrepreneur 360 list of the "Best Entrepreneurial Companies in America."
