Take It Away, Thanksgiving Day

Everyone has a favorite dish they look forward to at Thanksgiving, and for many there’s more than one. Because of that, the average Thanksgiving feast can easily have a dozen or more items on the menu … and not everyone looks forward to that much time in the kitchen. Fortunately, there are plenty of local options.

Thanksgiving is Kim Lennert’s favorite holiday. She co-owns Spoon- Fed Kitchen with her husband, Matt, and together they have created a gourmet carry-out menu covering everything from breakfast to appetizers, sides and dessert. The only thing not on the menu is the bird!
 
SpoonFed’s sides include buttermilk mashed potatoes, roasted cauliflower and Brussels sprouts with bacon, stuffing and green bean casserole.
 
Cranberry sauce, applesauce and gravy are also available as well as vegan sides. Desserts range from iced pumpkin cookies to cheesecakes and pies, with gluten-free items available.
 
Thanksgiving orders must be placed by 4 p.m. Nov. 23. Pick-up times are 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Nov. 27.
 

Pine Valley Market

Pine Valley market will offer a limited amount of 16- to 18-pound Koch’s Farm turkeys cooked inhouse. Each turkey will be quartered and wrapped in foil with its natural pan drippings and come with a quart of homestyle turkey gravy.
 
Side items include dressing, sweet potato souffle, corn souffle, green bean casserole, collard greens, baked macaroni and cheese, roasted root vegetables, mashed potatoes, cider glazed Brussels sprouts and roasted red potatoes.
 
For dessert PVM will offer apple cranberry crisp, caramel pound cake and homemade pies.
 
Orders must be placed by noon Nov. 22, and pick-up dates are Nov. 26 and Nov. 27, by noon.
 

Sweet n Savory Café

Sweet n Savory is offering three carry-out menu packages for those who don’t want to do all the cooking this Thanksgiving.
 
The Intimate Thanksgiving Dinner feeds four to six for $102.95. It includes: a roasted hand-carved turkey breast, homemade gravy, cornbread and sausage stuffing, buttermilk smashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole, a 10-inch pumpkin pie and a dozen dinner rolls with whipped honey butter.
 
The Classic Thanksgiving Dinner feeds eight to 12 for $172.95. It comes with one whole roasted turkey and all the fixings listed above. It also includes two pies, a Key lime and a pumpkin, two dozen dinner rolls and sweet cornbread.
 
The Ultimate Thanksgiving Dinner feeds 12 to 18 for $255.95. It includes everything in the Classic Thanksgiving Dinner Package plus jerk spiced pork loin with mango chutney, homemade macaroni and cheese, coleslaw, shrimp and grits and an apple cobbler. Pick up will be between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Thanksgiving Day. The restaurant will also be open Thanksgiving Day, serving family-style dinner with seatings from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Reservations are required.

The SeaWitch Café in Carolina Beach offers two dinner packages, each serving six to eight people, and with the choice of a whole roasted turkey or a spiral ham. Both options come with a choice of three sides ranging from macaroni and cheese, stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, green beans, corn and cranberry relish, and either an apple or pumpkin pie. The turkey dinner is $54.99, and the ham dinner is $69.99.
 

Cast Iron Kitchen

Cast Iron Kitchen is offering a take-home meal that feeds between two and 14 people.
 
Customers choose one protein, either roasted turkey breast or slow cooked pork shoulder, and three sides from options such as sausage stuffing, sweet potato casserole, braised collards, mac and cheese, classic green bean casserole, mashed potatoes with gravy and hashbrown casserole. Shrimp and grits are available as an add-on entree.
 
Packages range from $65 for two to $250 for 10 to 14 people. Additional sides can be purchased for $10 each.

Start your Thanksgiving morning with a ready-to-bake French toast casserole from S&L Deli. Thanksgiving dinner is being offered for a minimum of 10 people at $16.99 per person, and includes turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, pecan praline sweet potatoes, collards or green beans, cranberry orange relish, rolls or cornbread, and mac and cheese. Desserts options include banana pudding, sweet potato bread pudding, pumpkin bread pudding, rice pudding and cannolis.
 
Orders should be placed on Facebook before Nov. 18.
