As a salute to Bastille Day, as well as its fully staged production of Puccini’s La Bohème later this month, Opera Wilmington is throwing a party: A Tour de France Wine & Cheese Pairing, set for July 14.

The event will feature a pairing of six regional French wines and cheeses as well as a silent auction, Parisian photo ops, contests, finger foods and musical entertainment from Opera Wilmington’s La Bohème cast.

The event will take place at 6 p.m. at 21 S. Front St., where guests will have the opportunity to take their favorite glass of wine up to the rooftop terrace and enjoy a view of the sunset over the Cape Fear River.

Tickets are $50 per person and are available online

Opera Wilmington’s production of Puccini’s La Bohème, a masterpiece of love and loss, features tenor Jonathan Kaufman as Rodolfo, soprano Jemeesa Yarborough as Mimi and soprano Mary Claire Curran as Musetta. Andrew René (baritone) will sing the role of Marcello, and rounding out the main cast are baritone Scott Ballantine as Schaunard and perennial favorite Carl Samet as Colline.

The production will be led by conductor Daniel Brier and will take place July 19, 21, 26 and 28 in UNCW’s Mainstage Theatre.

Friday performances of La Bohème are at 7 p.m.; Sundays are 3 p.m. matinees. Tickets are available through UNCW’s Kenan Box Office at 962-3500 Monday through Friday from 2 to 6 p.m. or online.
