September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and Durham-based Rise Biscuits Donuts has partnered with Jeff Gordon Children’s Foundation to join the race to end childhood cancer. Rise is now serving the Bee’s Knees Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit Slider, with a percentage of the proceeds benefitting the foundation.
“Cancer has touched us all and we’re honored to be in a position to drive visibility and donations for a foundation that is making a difference for children battling the disease,” said Rise Biscuits Donuts CEO Tom Ferguson. “My daughter Callie was the driving force behind the Bee’s Knees biscuit. She tried something similar in Texas and I believe we’ve perfected a delicious way to raise money for the cause in September.”
The Bee’s Knees features crispy chicken with a honey-butter spread on a mini scratch-made biscuit. It will be available until the end of September at all Rise locations.
Founded in 1999 by four-time NASCAR Cup Series champion, Jeff Gordon, his namesake foundation has granted more than $18 million to support children battling cancer.
“We’ve seen time and again that kids and their families have the courage to fight childhood cancer, we just don’t have enough funding for critical research,” said Susan Johnston, director of communications for Jeff Gordon Children’s Foundation. “Inspired and generous partnerships by community-driven companies like Rise Biscuits Donuts are crucial for closing this funding gap to find more effective, less toxic treatments for childhood cancer.”
Rise Wilmington is located at 1319 Military Cutoff Road in the Landfall Shopping Center.
