The Mayfaire Town Center location of Southern Tide, a lifestyle and apparel brand based in Greenville, South Carolina, is closing.

The Southern Tide Signature Store at Mayfaire, 925 Town Center Drive, advertised a 30 to 75% off closing sale this week. It's expected to close by or before Sept. 15, according to the Southern Tide Wilmington page on Facebook.

"We do have a new-to-market tenant to fill the space, but I can't make any announcements until the lease has been executed," said Paige Coniglio, Mayfaire's specialty leasing manager and marketing director.

The Southern Tide brand expanded into the Wilmington market in 2017. The store is described on Mayfaire's website as "a men’s and women’s high-quality clothing store with classic Southern style."

Southern Tide officials declined to comment Thursday on the store's closing because the Mayfaire Town Center store was not operated by Southern Tide but by a retail partner, who did not return a request for more information.

A release in 2017 from Southern Tide said Wilmington’s coastal location and collegiate community "align seamlessly with the Southern Tide feel."

Another clothing store at Mayfaire, bevello, closed earlier this month. The Mayfaire Town Center location of Eddie Bauer closed in January, but Loft, a women's clothing store and national chain, filled the space in May.

Nationwide, some clothing retail chains have been struggling in recent years. One of the most recent announcements involves fashion retailer Forever 21, which has a location at Independence Mall in Wilmington, reportedly preparing to file for bankruptcy.

But while some businesses are struggling, others are opening new locations. Drift Coffee & Kitchen, a local chain, began welcoming customers this month to its Mayfaire Town Center eatery. More food options, including Breadsmith and Lyssa Cakes, are coming soon to the shopping center on Military Cutoff Road.

Mojo SportClinic, a walk-in physical therapy facility, opened at the center Aug. 1.
