Three new stores have opened at The Cotton Exchange in downtown Wilmington, according to a news release.

Kitchenmasters, Unwined by the Sea and Little Angels Boutique opened in the Dahnhardt Building, filling up The Cotton Exchange structure to full capacity, said Angi Israel, managing partner at Plan A Advertising.

Israel said Kitchenmasters and Unwined by the Sea will be in previously empty locations. Little Angels Boutique will be where the By the Boardwalk store used to be. By the Boardwalk, a home décor shop, moved downstairs to the former Beloved Boutique location. Beloved Boutique closed March 31, according to the Beloved Boutique Facebook page.

The Cotton Exchange General Manager Cheryl Hartsoe said the shops fill the missing elements the group of stores has not had in a long time, including a kid’s clothing store and a kitchen store.

“I think these three shops combined with the other shops we have, like Swahili Coast, completes the building,” she said.

There are currently 28 shops in the historical shopping center building.

Kitchenmasters is a new store that sells new and vintage kitchen items.

Little Angels Boutique is an apparel store that focuses on children’s clothing and is located at 346 Nutt St. Co-owner Wendy Martinez said she liked the building because it attracts many tourists.

Unwined by the Sea makes and sells hand-poured soy candles. The company is owned by Bridgette and Jared Cline.

Bridgette Cline said their line is carried by about 20 stores in North Carolina and South Carolina and they decided to venture into owning their own retail store.

“My husband and I have had the company as a wholesale business for a year and a half; one of the stores that was carrying our line was moving out, and right after that they contacted us about the store location opening,” she said.

One feature of their candles is they can also be used as a skin moisturizer after melted.

“We try and make the cleanest product we can for our customers and we are trying to expand into lotions, and everything is vegan and cruelty free. For the shop, we wanted it to have modern clean fresh look,” she said.

There will be a ribbon-cutting event at 3 p.m. June 22 for the three stores. Members of the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce and The Cotton Exchange will be there for the ceremony.

The public is welcome to attend the ribbon-cutting, where some stores will have giveaways, discounts, snacks and wine during the event.
