A fast-growing health food company headquartered in Wilmington is now distributing nationwide through The Vitamin Shoppe’s website.

Clean Eatz Kitchen’s variety boxes, each containing five healthy frozen meals, join the online wellness retailer’s inventory of other sports nutrition products as well as vitamins, supplements, green living items and homeopathic remedies.

As one of approximately 700 national brands carried by The Vitamin Shoppe, the partnership could help Clean Eatz gain access to new markets.

“We are thrilled to partner with The Vitamin Shoppe to bring our healthy meal options to an even wider audience,” Clean Eatz Kitchen CEO Jason Nista said in a release. “Our commitment to using whole, healthful ingredients aligns with The Vitamin Shoppe’s mission to help customers lead healthier lives.”

All Clean Eatz meals are designed with balanced macronutrients (carbohydrates, fat and protein) at an affordable price, with most meals coming in under 600 calories. The variety boxes include a selection of five different meals, including Clean Eatz crowd pleasers like Buffalo Chicken Mac and Cheese, Chicken Adobo and Sweet and Sour Chicken.

Clean Eatz Kitchen is the sister company to Clean Eatz Cafe. The Wilmington-based business has expanded rapidly since the first cafe opened on Racine Drive in 2013. In addition to about 200 Clean Eatz Cafe locations across the United States, owners Don and Evonne Varady launched Clean Eatz Kitchen in 2017 as a direct-to-consumer meal prep delivery service. Each month, the business offers a menu of about three dozen meals – including options for breakfast, ketogenic diets and meals with extra protein – that customers can have delivered to their door within three business days.

Clean Eatz Kitchen ships healthy frozen meals and snacks to customers nationwide from its headquarters in Wilmington or warehouses in St. Louis or Salt Lake City depending on the location of the customer.

Late last year, Clean Eatz Kitchen nabbed partnerships with more than half of the NBA’s 30 minor league teams for the season. Under the terms of these deals, Clean Eatz provides players with their choice of healthy frozen meals and snacks as well as access to Clean Eatz dietitian Crystal Zabka-Belsky.
