This weekend when Point Break restaurant opens in Ogden, there will be a sense of long-awaited excitement for owners Jason “Foz” Fosdick and Ryan Trotter.

The duo is opening the restaurant Saturday at 7134 Market St., in the former location of Stella’s Pizza & Grille.

“We started this right at the beginning of the pandemic and knew we couldn’t open a brick and mortar location with all that was going on,” Fosdick said.

But not wanting to stall the idea, Fosdick says they started Point Break the exact opposite of a traditional restaurant model.

“Catering and delivery is the route we went, and it hit at a time when it was really needed,” he said, adding that he believes they have mastered the concept of individualizing meals safely.

“It’s very important at this point for meals to not be your traditional boxed lunch for businesses hosting lunches or someone holding a party. We feel we offer this in a great way to make it the safest way possible,” said Fosdick.

And to their surprise, Point Break has not had just one set of demographics but audiences of all ages. Fosdick said the catering and delivery service is attractive to 70-year-olds who may not want to get out as well as students at the University of North Carolina Wilmington.

Giving credit to his business partner Trotter for creating the scrumptious meals, items on the menu include grilled chicken wings, wedge potatoes and salads, and Fosdick said if there is any particular item people must try, it’s the restaurant’s original ranch dressing.

“It’s hands-down the best ranch dressing,” he said, laughing that he doesn’t joke about something as important as delicious ranch dressing.

Fosdick said that the Point Break team is more than enthusiastic about Saturday’s grand opening.

They feel it is a big day to celebrate for all involved. He said anyone coming to the restaurant on Saturday can register to be one of two winners of free food from Point Break for a year.

The restaurant is also planning band music and Michaela from radio station Z-107.5 will be broadcasting live.

Fosdick said parking is expected to be tight for the grand opening celebration, but there is plenty of free parking behind the Publix grocery store in Ogden.

While many will know Point Break is located in the old Stella’s spot, the space has been gutted and has a new kitchen and seating area.

Fosdick, the Wilmington DJ now turned restaurant entrepreneur, said he has always loved restaurants. He said he knows that type of business is not always easy but he loves people and wanted to try it.

Said Fosdick, “We are really excited for people to come in. It’s fresh, fast and affordable. Come give us a try.”
