Joe Romano, Sam Romano and Nathan King, owners of Seaview Crab Company, have introduced a new segment of their business -- a carry-out kitchen at the Marstellar Street location.
“This is a concept that has been on our minds for a long time,” Nathan King said. “We’ve always felt that if we could bring our fresh seafood to life ourselves, that would be a great thing.”
King said that for years now the stores have gotten calls asking if they offer steamed blue crabs, so they knew there was a big interest in that at the very least.
They also knew that they had plenty of room at the Marstellar location to create a commissary kitchen that could serve carryout as well as provide their other locations with items such as dips, soups and seafood salads.
King said the opening of the carry-out kitchen is just the first step in developing this aspect of the business. The partners are looking forward to gathering customer feedback and using that to help shape the future. King said it might include a food truck and catering.
“The current carry-out situation is really just a launching point,” King said. “We are going to let it develop naturally based on what our customers want. I’ve been surprised many times before with what the market has demanded so we’ll let the customers decide.”
For now, Seaview is serving a variety of daily blue plate specials, many featuring steamed or fried seafood, as well as seafood tacos. They plan to soon try out several salads, rice bowls topped with fresh seafood, soups and chowders.
“Our goal is to provide a premium product at an affordable price,” King said.
Seaview Crab Company has four locations in the Wilmington area, one at the Belville River Walk and two in the Sandhills region.
The Marstellar Street carry-out kitchen is currently open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., with plans to extend hours and open seven days a week during the summer season. More information on locations and hours can be found online.
