Brunches, the new concept for brothers Danny and Earl McPherson, opens Monday at Mayfaire Community Center, Danny McPherson said.

The owners of King Neptune in Wrightsville Beach are also already planning for the growth of Brunches. A second, slightly larger Brunches location is in the works on Randall Parkway near Flying Machine Brewing Company in Wilmington, and it's expected to open in early 2020.

The Brunches menu features classic breakfast, lunch and bunch options all-day, every day. Customers can expect everything from breakfast combos to chicken and waffles, certified Angus beef burgers and mac and cheese.

Danny McPherson said about 80 to 90 percent of the menu will be available at the time of opening, and he looks forward to gathering feedback from customers in order to allow the menu to evolve throughout the first few months.

He said the majority of items on the menu are under $10, making it possible to enjoy a Sunday-style brunch any day of the week.

Everything on the menu is made to order and customers are encouraged to sit back and enjoy some craft mimosas or coffee.

“The idea is that you shouldn’t have to wait until Sunday for brunch,” Danny McPherson said. “That being said, the fun part of brunch is not having to rush.”

The 60-seat restaurant offers a variety of different types of seating – for those popping in for a bite to eat while getting some work done, there are plenty of spots, for example – and on weekdays Brunches offers a complimentary business center to go along with its free Wi-Fi access.

The McPhersons plan to expand to several locations locally and beyond.

Danny McPherson said his business model for expanding Brunches is simple, he plans to create paths for employees to advance their careers within the company.

“We’re setting up a path for key employees to share in our profits and grow with the company,” he said. “The only way to expand is with quality employees, and we’re creating a new model for success.”

Brunches plans to be open for dinner on Thursday and Friday evenings, with drink and appetizer specials and occasional live music. They also hope to host after-hours events, such as jazz nights and wine tastings, and the space is available for private events during off hours.

Brunches will be open 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. seven days a week, with dinner hours on Thursday and Friday, and is located at 6800 Parker Farm Drive, in the space formerly occupied by Italian restaurant Postitalia
