Plans For Local Calda’s Coal Fire Pizza On Hold

By Jessica Maurer, posted Sep 18, 2019
Anthony Calda, owner of Calda’s Coal Fire Pizza of Myrtle Beach, said he is postponing his move into the Wilmington market.

Calda said he and his partners need to focus their attention on their  Myrtle Beach, South Carolina restaurant.

“I thought I could manage both the new Myrtle Beach location and the set-up of the Wilmington location at the same time,” Calda said. “But I see now that I need to focus my attention here [in S.C.] first in order for both businesses to be successful.”

Calda signed a lease for 5709 Oleander Drive earlier this year, with hopes of opening by fall.

“It is unfortunate that we had to give up the Oleander Drive location, but we do have another location in the Wrightsville Beach area in mind,” Calda said.

Calda said he wants to reassure the community that he is still coming to Wilmington.

“We are definitely still coming, just a little later than planned,” Calda said. “I hope to be open there within the next 18 to 24 months.”
