Scoopin’ Yummies A Sweet Sensation In Carolina Beach

Scoopin’ Yummies, a new ice cream and sweets shop at the retail center anchored by Michael's Seafood in Carolina Beach, wants nothing more than to make you feel like a kid in a candy shop.

Offerings include ice cream, candy- and dessert-topped milkshakes, craft soda, Zeno’s saltwater taffy and penny candy, among other sweet treats.

But the fun doesn’t stop there; owner Eric Kent Reid has created a collision of vintage and modern sweets that are a feast for the senses. Because he loves a little something salty with his sweets, Reid serves a small side of rippled potato chips with every craft milkshake.

Scoopin’ Yummies also has a cotton candy bar with 13 flavors of spun sugar from Cotton’s Cravings of Atlanta, and bubble waffles, a trend that comes by way of Hong Kong and Macau. The slightly sweet, egg-based waffles look like bubble wrap and are served warm, with ice cream and toppings.

“Scoopin’ Yummies is more than just a shop; it’s an experience,” Reid said.

Scoopin’ Yummies is at 1206 N. Lake Park Blvd., and is open from noon to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from noon to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
