Just over a year after opening in Surf City, Topsail Steamer has arrived in Wrightsville Beach with steam pots to go.

Located at 530 Causeway Drive in Wrightsville Beach, Topsail Steamer offers five signature pots, ranging from New England Clambakes to Low Country Boils, as well as a create-your-own option. The pots contain fresh seafood, meats, veggies and homemade spice blends.

After spending many summer nights cooking for family and friends at her family’s Surf City beach house, owner Danielle Mahon came up with the idea of carry-out steam pots.

The appeal of picking up a steam pot to go is the ability to enjoy local fare without having to eat out or make several stops for all the components of a home-cooked meal, said Mahon. Topsail Steamer provides all the ingredients in a disposable pot, as well as sheets of brown paper to serve it on, and all the condiments. There’s zero prep work and the clean up is quick and easy.

Mahon opened her first location with the intent of expanding along the coast if the concept was successful. When the space neighboring Bank’s Channel Pub at The Landings on Causeway Drive became available, Mahon said that was the key motivating factor in bringing Topsail Steamer to Wrightsville Beach.

“I couldn’t have been more pleased with our opening weekend,” Mahon said. “We had a steady flow of customers that were familiar with our product as well as many who came by to check us out and welcome us to the area.”

Each of Topsail Steamer’s pots are made to order and are available in two sizes; the low tider, which feeds two to three people, and the high tider, which feeds four to five.  Pots for larger parties can be customized according to size, and orders can be placed in-store, by phone, or online. Seasonal add-ons and bakery items such as cornbread, key lime pie and lemon blueberry pie are also available.

A ribbon cutting and grand opening celebration with samples will be held at noon on June 13.

Topsail Steamer is also located at 303 South Topsail Drive, Unit B, in Surf City. The full menu, pre-orders and hours of operation are available online.
