Fans of the Wilmington Tea Room, which closed its doors at the end of 2014, will now have a new place to gather for high tea.
 
Far From France, a combination French café, bakery and gourmet grocery store, is offering a customized tea service. The service includes a choice of Maxim’s de Paris teas, as well as mini sweet and savory pastries, petit fours, macarons and tea cakes. All of the pastries are made in-house by pastry chef and co-owner Josephine Pelletier, with the exception of the macarons, which are imported from Maxim’s.
 
Far From France opened at The Pointe at Barclay last May and specializes in fresh baked goods such as madeleines, caramel cakes, croissants, baguettes and brioche. There are also a variety of imported gourmet items, including chocolates and macarons, oils, vinegars and mustards.
 
Josephine’s husband, Alban Pelletier, said this was the logical next step for Far From France, and he and his wife look forward to filling a gap that has been missing in Wilmington for some time.
 
Tea service is being offered 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday and reservations must be made 24 hours in advance. Customers also have the choice of 7, 9, or 11 sweet and savory items per person to accompany their tea.
 
In addition to tea, also served daily at Far From France are coffee, espresso, lattes and cappuccinos and café seating is available inside or on the outdoor patio.
 
Far From France is located in Suite 204 at 1474 Barclay Pointe Blvd.
