BrodyCo, co-developer of Mayfaire Town Center in Wilmington, on Monday announced plans to rezone land off Eastwood Road for a new residential development.

According to a news release, the planned community, Mayfaire West, will be adjacent to Autumn Hall and Mayfaire Town Center, between Town Center Drive and Gregory Road, and is expected to hold 256 apartments and 223 carriage houses and townhomes.

BrodyCo's website on the project states it "is at a natural crossroads between two major mixed-use centers and will serve to connect the two while diverting traffic from the surrounding, existing neighborhoods."

In addition, the community is set to have 9 acres of green space, extensive pedestrian and bike pathways and "traffic-calming infrastructure to ensure safety and accessibility," the release stated.

A community meeting on the project is scheduled for 5 p.m. May 6 in the Paynter Room at the Northeast Regional Library, 1241 Military Cutoff Road, Wilmington.

“Mayfaire West is a transformational development that cultivates a welcoming sense of place for residents and visitors of all ages,” said Hyman Brody, president and CEO of BrodyCo, in the release. “This project is a unique opportunity to support Wilmington’s rapidly growing population, and we’re committed to offering a dynamic, desirable and inclusive living experience.”

BrodyCo developed Mayfaire Town Center, which celebrated its grand opening in 2004, with members of the Wilmington-based Zimmer family.
