The company behind the downtown mixed-use project River Place and other developments in the Wilmington area has a smaller proposal in mind for property near Wrightsville Beach.
East West Partners has submitted site plans to the city of Wilmington for luxury townhomes on a little over an acre at 1729 Allens Lane. The project, Villa Point, is a joint venture between East West and Hardison Building Co., said Lee Perry, co-president of East West Partners.
Villa Point would include five three-story buildings with 18 units, according to site plans.
The current owner of the property, which is already zoned for multifamily uses, is 1729 Allens Lane LLC, an entity managed by Mark Maynard Sr. of Tribute Companies. The LLC bought the property for $1.2 million in 2021, according to property tax records.
East West has been busy in the Wilmington area in recent years. Among the firm’s projects here, in addition to River Place, are The Range on Oleander, an apartment community, and Waterway, a master-planned community in the planning stages in Brunswick County. Hardison Building Co. is a longtime Wilmington homebuilder.
For Villa Point, the application with the city of Wilmington is currently in review, according to the city's project tracking website. If all goes as planned, construction could start soon.
Perry said, "We plan to go to market and begin the first phase (seven homes) by late summer."
