In the Brunswick County community of Ash, a 33.6-acre property recently sold for $495,000.
Located at the corner of N.C. 130 and Waccamaw School Road Northwest, the property represented “a unique investment opportunity in Brunswick County,” according to a news release from Wilmington-based Sun Coast Partners Commercial. “The parcel was offered for the first time on the market and generated significant interest thanks to its strategic location, zoning flexibility and future development potential.”
According to the deed for the property, the buyer was Wayne J.Smith and the sellers were members of the Lewis family.
Sun Coast Partners broker David Summerlin III represented the buyer in the transaction. He said there are no immediate development plans for the investment property.
“The continued growth in Brunswick County makes properties like this increasingly attractive for investors, developers and forward-thinking buyers,” Summerlin stated in a news release.
The news release stated that the land offers a variety of possibilities for potential development, from light commercial enterprises to residential or recreational development. The site also includes a dirt airstrip, currently leased on a month-to-month basis.
Hansen Matthews of Wilmington-based commercial real estate firm Maus, Warwick, Matthews & Co. represented the sellers.
"That area is certainly growing, and it will have sewer in front of the property within 12 months," Matthews said.
The listing gained a lot of interest from the start, according to Matthews, who added, "Within a week, I had an offer."
