The plans, submitted last week, are set to go before the city of Wilmington’s Technical Review Committee on Aug. 23, according to city documents.

Phases 5 and 6 are not expected to break ground until late 2019 or early 2020, RiverLights spokeswoman Kace Coble said in an email.

RiverLights, developed by Newland Communities, has sold just over 300 homes to date since its grand opening in December 2016, Coble said. Of the homes that have been sold, there are more than 200 families currently living in the community, leaving roughly 100 homes currently under construction, she added.

The neighborhood most recently opened its amenities center at Del Webb Wilmington, an age 55 and older community.

First models for Southern Gale Townhomes, a new townhome section in the main residential portion of the development, are expected to be complete by the end of the year, Coble said. And crews have broken ground on RiverLights' second mixed-use building at  Marina Village, which will add to the development's retail and apartment space, community officials said.

There are nearly a dozen builders for the community, including the most recent additions of Legacy Homes by Bill Clark and Laurel Homes, which is building the Southern Gale Townhomes.

Upon completion of RiverLights, which is not expected for eight to 10 years from the community opening, officials plan for 2,290 single family, patio and multifamily homes.

Officials said Phases 5 and 6 of the residential development continue RiverLights’ trend toward full build-out.
