Market Street Shopping Center Under New Ownership

A Wilmington shopping center changed hands recently for more than $2 million.

Market Street Station, 5214 Market St., was purchased by Claude Smith Enterprises Inc., according to an announcement from Wilmington-based Eastern Carolinas Commercial Real Estate.

ECCRE represented the buyer, which is based in Rockingham, in the $2.2 million transaction.

Paul Loukas and Hank Miller of another Wilmington-based commercial real estate firm, Cape Fear Commercial, represented the seller, Spirikas Properties LLC of Hampstead.

The 15,400-square-foot center is situated in front of the Walmart Supercenter at 5226 Sigmon Road.

"With the purchase, Claude Smith Enterprises also hired ECCRE to handle
the leasing of Market Street Station," the ECCRE news release stated.  "The property has several key vacancies we will look to address and fill in the coming weeks."

Tenants at the center Include FastMed Urgent Care, rental car company Hertz, Chopstix Chinese restaurant and tile seller Prosein.
