A Wilmington business park is about to grow again if recent plans come to fruition.

A 15,500-square-foot office building would be the 17th and the last in Burnt Mill Business Park for development firm Abinto Corp.

Demand has been strong over the years for the park's offerings, said Steve Hall, a partner with Wilmington-based commercial real estate firm Maus, Warwick, Matthews & Co.

“The last four buildings, we put them up and they were leased before we got a certificate of completion on the shell of the buildings,” Hall said. “We had them all leased out.”

Adding the new building, the business park will contain close to 300,000 square feet. Some major existing tenants are government agencies, including the IRS. The park also has a location of the restaurant Brunches.

Four of the buildings in the business park, which is located off Randall Parkway, were completed within the past few years, and its current space is 100% leased.

Construction on the newest building, on a parcel bordered by Burnt Mill and Jaeckle drives, could start by the end of the year, Hall said.

Site plans are currently in the technical review pipeline with the city of Wilmington. The building could be complete by the middle of 2022, Hall said.

Potential tenants and buyers are on the hunt for office and other types of space in the Wilmington area, brokers say.

“The market demand has been great and we have a lack of inventory in the Wilmington market total,” Hall said. “There’s a lack of inventory for about every product out there right now.”
