An electrical component supplier with a national reach leased space recently to expand its presence in Wilmington.
Womack Electric Supply, which has a sales office in the Port City and a home office in Danville, Virginia, plans to move from its office off Gordon Road to an 11,000-square-foot office and warehouse facility on Old Dairy Road.
"Our company doesn't have facilities in the southeastern part of the state and with the market demand and the challenge for our company to grow and the timing of being able to secure key personnel in the market -- all those stars lined up to push us to open down in that market," said Josh York, district manager for Womack Electric Supply.
The company currently employs two people in Wilmington and plans to add four more when the new location eventually opens, which is not expected to happen before late this year or early next year, York said.
The warehouse will be used to bring in electrical components that go into new construction and renovations and ship it out to contractors.
"It's a good market for us," York said of the Wilmington area.
Womack Electric was established in 1938, according to the company's website. Its parent company is Crescent Electric Supply Co., one of the largest electrical distribution companies in the nation, the website states.
Cody Cress and Tyler Pegg of The CRESS Group of Coldwell Banker Commercial Sun Coast Partners were involved in the lease transaction.
