A new clinic opening at Mayfaire Town Center aims to help athletes of all kinds get their mojo back.

But it's not magic; it's physical therapy. Jon Duplessis, chief therapist for Mojo SportClinic, has been a physical therapist for more than two decades. His experience includes working for 13 years in Wilmington out of a clinic across Military Cutoff Road from Mayfaire Town Center in The Forum.

Now Duplessis, his wife, Louise Duplessis, director of operations, and one of his longtime patients, Alan Neveu, executive director of Mojo SportClinic, plan to officially open Mojo at 6859 Monument Drive on July 1, with a grand opening set to be held later that month.

Mojo SportClinic is a walk-in physical therapy facility that doesn't require insurance or a referral, with a flat rate of $40 per session or $10 per class for group classes that target specific sports and injuries.

"We wanted to break away from the insurance world," Jon Duplessis said. "We wanted to give people better access and reduce costs."

Jon Duplessis, whose resume includes working with the U.S. Olympic wrestling team, said Mojo also wants to treat all of its customers like world-class athletes.

"I want to give that exact same care to everybody," he said.

Mojo SportClinic is the fourth start-up for Neveu, a serial entrepreneur, whose last position was as chief technology officer for Certify Inc., a cloud-based travel and expense management solution. He said his experience in the software startup world can help turn Mojo into a differentiated brand that grows to a national level.

As a patient of Jon Duplessis, Neveu said, "I saw a very, very devoted, loyal following of customers that we would talk amongst ourselves and say, 'This is amazing, this style of treatment that we're getting and actually getting cures from various injuries...but rapidly.'"

Four groups that Mojo is expected to serve among its customers, Neveu said, are dedicated athletes, weekend warriors, youth and moms. The model is based on volume, he said, with the ability to serve 15 people an hour and the well-known location and parking spaces at Mayfaire to make that a reality.

The building was previously occupied by a gift shop and before that, a fitness studio. When the clinic is officially open in July, the hours are expected to be 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. during the week and 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays.
