New Tenants Announced For Leland Retail Center

By Cece Nunn, posted May 23, 2019
More businesses are on their way to the growing northern Brunswick County town of Leland.

Hank Adams and Allan Fox of Coldwell Banker Commercial Sun Coast Partners, the leasing agents for the newly built Ocean Gate Plaza in Leland, announced this week that the retail center is now fully occupied.

The last three available spaces in Ocean Gate Plaza, 1132 New Pointe Blvd., were recently leased, according to the Coldwell Banker Commercial news release.

While current tenants include Bridgewater Wines, Dunkin Donuts and Hibachi Bistro, the new tenants are Michelakis Smile and Implant Dentistry, Hickman Pharmacy and Leland Tobacco.

Michelakis Smile and Implant Dentistry is expected to open in October, the release stated. The owner, Tony Michelakis, has been practicing dentistry for 22 years in Brunswick County.

Hickman Pharmacy, the first and only compounding pharmacy in Leland, is planning on opening by August, according to the release.

"In addition to prescriptions, the pharmacy will offer natural products, CBD oil, and a delivery service," the release stated.

Owner Wes Hickman "is looking forward to opening his own pharmacy in the Leland community after working for a large chain drug store for years. He wants to bring customer service back to the drug store business and treat his clients as more than a prescription," the release stated.

Leland Tobacco, a store for tobacco enthusiasts, will also be occupying one of the recently leased units, according to the release.

Construction on the center, which has a total of six units, was completed in August 2018.

"The owner of Ocean Gate Plaza, Yu Hang Wang, brings a local vibe to the center," the release stated. "He and his wife own and operate the recently opened Hibachi Bistro restaurant in the center, as well as other locations in Wilmington. Ocean Gate Plaza provided the couple with the perfect opportunity to own their first retail investment property."
