Officials announced Monday two more tenants that will be part of a major mixed-use project in Leland.

D. Logan of Harrington Village Holdings LLC and Shirley Logan of Coldwell Banker Commercial Sun Coast said in a news release Monday morning that Sandalwood Shoppes and Axis Fitness + Training will be key tenants of Harrington Square, the commercial component of Harrington Village in Leland.

According to the release, the businesses are expected to open in the spring.

The release said Sandalwood Shoppes is an upscale marketplace that  "promises to provide a true destination shopping experience. Local entrepreneurs and artisans will fill the 60 retail vignettes with an array of merchandise from gifts, apparel, jewelry and coastal décor to candles, essential oils, clocks and more."

Sandalwood Shoppes will also hold monthly events and have a staff equipped to take custom orders, the release stated.

“After 25 years in retail at Macy’s and opening several Target locations in New Jersey, I felt it was time to go out on my own. I chose Harrington Square in Leland after studying retail surveys and seeing the growth. I believe good things are happening here,” said Joan Pacifico, owner of Sandalwood Shoppes, in the release.

Harrington Square will mark the third area location for Axis Fitness + Training, which offers group and personal fitness, combining strength training, endurance, conditioning and functional movement into workouts. Axis Fitness uses technology to track progress and heart rates to help clients build strength, avoid injury and sweat with a purpose, the release stated.

“We are excited about the opportunity to be a part of the Harrington Square project. It’s going to be a beautiful location and the Leland market shows a lot of promise. Our team is just grateful the community is responding to what we are doing in such a positive way,” said Mike Barnhart, of Axis Fitness + Training, in the release.

Harrington Village is a 20-acre mixed-use campus of 13 buildings at the corner of Village Road and Lee Drive. The residential portion includes 10 luxury apartment buildings with a clubhouse, pool and other amenities, the news release stated.

Meanwhile the commercial portion, Harrington Square, encompasses the ground floor of the three front-facing 4-story buildings, offering about 30,000 square feet of retail and office space for shops, businesses and restaurants. Harrington Square tenants announced in August 2017 included Sole Nails and Spa and McKee Homes.

“I am a believer in the Leland area and have dedicated the past 15 years of my career to building here. People want to have an environment where they can eat, shop, sleep, dine and have a nice comfortable place to walk. This is what we are giving them,” Logan said in the release.
