Savor Southern Kitchen, the newest venture for A Thyme Savor Catering owners Jeff and Danielle Cousler, is now open at 3704 Carolina Beach Road.

The Couslers announced their plans to purchase Bon Appetit restaurant and catering in early March and closed on the business later that month. Following a brief renovation, the restaurant opened to the public last week.

“Want to give a big shout out to the many people that have helped us get this new venture up and going,” said the Couslers in a Facebook post April 20.

The Couslers credit their catering staff as well as the staff from Bon Appeitit with coming together to make the transition as smooth as possible.

The newly renovated space includes a large granite bar with seating for 10, new flooring, fixtures and freshly painted walls, giving the space a bright and open feel.

Brad Hagler, A Thyme Savor executive chef, created the restaurant’s menu, which offers a wide variety of breakfast, brunch and lunch items.

The breakfast and brunch menu includes Hagler’s award-winning chicken and waffles, several omelets, scrambles and benedicts prepared with local eggs, and Southern favorites like biscuits and gravy with house-made country sausage, and shrimp and grits. The lunch menu offers salads, sandwiches, burgers and country kitchen plates featuring pulled pork, fried chicken, fried pork chops and fish and chips, all served with cornbread and a choice of two “fixins.”  Every item on the menu is $13 or less, with several breakfast plates for under $5.

Danielle Couseler said they will be assessing customers' responses to the menu items over the next several weeks and will make adjustments if needed. They are also working on a 15-minute lunch menu for those who need to get in and out in a hurry.

Savor Southern Kitchen offers a 20% discount to active military and first responders. Current hours are Tuesday through Sunday, 7 a.m.-3 p.m.
