Endowment Announces Board Leadership Transition

By Emma Dill, posted Dec 11, 2024
New Hanover Community Endowment officials announced on Wednesday the appointment of new board leadership, starting next year.

Shannon Winslow has been appointed incoming board chair, replacing current chair Bill Cameron, according to a news release from the endowment. Chris Boney has been appointed as vice chair. Both will assume their new roles on Jan. 1.

An inaugural member of the endowment’s board of directors, Winslow (left) has served on the board since 2022. She previously served as vice chair alongside Cameron and led the search committee that hired Dan Winslow as the endowment’s new president and CEO. Shannon Winslow and Dan Winslow are not related.

“The Endowment has made great strides toward transformational change in New Hanover County under Bill Cameron’s leadership, and I’m eager to build on that momentum, alongside Chris Boney, the full board, our new CEO, the Endowment’s dedicated staff and Community Advisory Council (CAC),” Shannon Winslow stated in the release. “I’m grateful for this opportunity to help lead the Endowment into its next chapter as board chair.”

Shannon Winslow is also the director of strategic accounts at WebMD Health Services and has more than 15 years of experience in health care.

Boney (left) will succeed Shannon Winslow as the board’s vice chair. He previously chaired the endowment’s grants committee and has served as a board member since 2023.

Boney is the chief relationships officer for LS3P, an architecture, interiors and planning firm. There, he oversees business development, community engagement and leadership at the firm’s eight Southeastern offices.

“There is so much opportunity ahead for the Endowment, and I’m honored to collaborate with the board chair to lead with a fresh perspective,” Boney stated in the release. “Together, we can continue our forward trajectory, strengthen our community connections, and drive meaningful impact in our community.”

In addition, current board member Khadijia Tribié Reid has been reappointed to a new three-year term, starting on Jan. 1. Reid is the pediatric medical director of MedNorth Community Health Center and a public health advocate.

“I have always considered my role on the board to be contiguous with every other thing I do in and outside of this community,” said Tribié Reid (left). “My aim is the same, to craft communities that build children who thrive. (New Hanover Community Endowment) board participation allows me to influence the ecology of our community to optimize health outcomes for families.”

The endowment was created from the sale of the county-owned New Hanover Regional Medical Center to Novant Health in 2021, and the fund now sits at about $1.6 billion.
