The Brunswick County Branch of the NAACP has recently awarded scholarships to graduating seniors from Brunswick County-area high schools, according to a news release.

Four seniors were the recipients of the scholarships for this academic year. The scholarships were awarded at West Brunswick High School on June 5, stated the release.

Olivia Fish Grace, a graduate of West Brunswick High School, received a $1,000 scholarship. She seeks to enter the medical field with a goal to obtain a doctorate degree in dental surgery, and eventually open a practice in Brunswick County.

Zion Smith, also a graduate of West Brunswick High School, received a $500 scholarship. He plans to attend the University of North Carolina Charlotte. He has his sights set to work for a large firm such as Amazon.

Hannah Garner, who went to South Brunswick High School, received a $500 scholarship. She hopes to earn a bachelor's degree in English and seeks to become a lawyer.

Hailey Jones, also a graduate of South Brunswick High School, received a $500 scholarship. She plans to attend N.C. State University to study chemistry with a focus on health care.

"The scholarship funds raised for these students came from local community businesses and member donations offered at their annual Freedom Fund Banquet held here in Brunswick County," said Brunswick County Branch President Carl Parker, in the release.
