Dresses For A Wedding: Don’t Forget The Moms

Sponsored Content provided by Alan Perry - President, The Wedding Dress Shoppe

Finding a dress for a mother of the bride or groom can sometimes be just as difficult as finding one for the bride! After all, the wedding day is extremely important to the moms, too, as they help host the event and see their child pledge a lifetime together with that one special person.

Once a bride has chosen her dress and other details begin to fall in place, mom should start looking, too. Often times, though, moms put off dress shopping for as long as possible because they are unsure of where to start or are fearful they won't find anything. There are just as many style selections and possibilities for moms when it comes to wedding day dresses and shopping can be overwhelming.

To complicate things, while there are many options, mothers often have many more guidelines and restrictions they are asked to follow affter the bride has finalized wedding details. Moms want to make sure they are blending well with the wedding colors chosen by the couple for their bridal party but they can’t wear the bridesmaid dress color. This means that in the end there may be only two or three color options for mom, which can eliminate some styles immediately and make finding the right dress hard. Also, a mother’s choice will vary depending on the level of formality, location, and the date and time of the event.

Even more, mothers want to make sure they don't outshine the bride but still feel confident and beautiful. This is where personal style must be allowed to play a role in what the mother wears, too.

Clearly, there is a lot for a mother to think about on the wedding day and we can understand why it is overwhelming. Luckily, at The Wedding Dress Shoppe we can help and we understand. We have several designers who offer a variety of styles that fit differing tastes, and our trained stylists will work with moms to find the perfect dress.

Mothers can’t afford to wait, though, because of how daunting the task feels. They need to start looking six months before the big day, as usually the dress will need to be ordered in the correct size. Much like wedding dresses and bridesmaid dresses, mothers’ dresses are ordered based on measurements as compared to a size chart provided by the designer. Many mothers feel more confident in their dresses if they allow for alterations for a perfect fit.

The stylists at The Wedding Dress Shoppe are not only very friendly and helpful, but they are knowledgeable about the current trends as well as what styles work best for different figures. They want to make sure moms get the treatment and help they need, too, to enjoy the big day as much as the bride. So come in and see us to get started on that perfect dress, moms.
