Pender County Provides Digital Tool For Blueberry Fans

Pender County is home to “all things blueberry,” but because of coronavirus pandemic restrictions, the county's cornerstone event, the N.C. Blueberry Festival, was cancelled.

The festival is usually held in June. As a result, Pender County Tourism created a blueberry trail for the blue fruit's fans to follow along to blueberry points of interest and places to shop for blueberry-focused food and merchandise throughout the county.

The PocketSights website leads visitors on a self-guided tour to area museums, fields, restaurants and shops. The tour is also available via the PocketSights Tour Guide downloadable app.

“We really want to encourage people to shop and support our local businesses, and of course, enjoy our blueberry heritage,” said Olivia Dawson, Pender County Tourism assistant.
