Novant Facilities Earn Leapfrog Safety Grades

By Staff Reports, posted Dec 3, 2021

The Leapfrog Group recently gave Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center and New Hanover Regional Medical Center, now a part of Novant, A letter grades in its fall hospital safety grades.

The Leapfrog Group is a national nonprofit that evaluates the safety and patient experience provided by hospitals across the country. The grades – from A to F – are assigned to U.S. hospitals “based on their ability to prevent errors, injuries, accidents and infections, and improve patient satisfaction,” according to a news release.

Novant said it had received As at its 11 hospitals.

“This makes Novant Health the largest healthcare system in North Carolina to ever achieve the highest mark for safety and quality across all of its hospitals,” the Winston-Salem- based system said.

“Our team of physicians, nurses, advanced practice clinicians, pharmacists and clinical team members utilize data, analytics and artificial intelligence to predict and prevent errors and infections before they happen, while also developing best practices to improve patient safety, quality and satisfaction,” Eric Eskioglu, Novant’s executive vice president and chief medical and scientific officer, said in the release.
