BIZTALK: Questions, Concerns On Potential NHRMC Sale

By Vicky Janowski, posted Jul 2, 2020
Ahead of Thursday evening’s Partnership Advisory Group meeting, which includes a vote on recommending a health system to continue negotiations with, today’s BizTalk was with several community members who still have questions about potentially selling NHRMC.

New Hanover County Commissioner Rob Zapple. The county commissioners – along with hospital trustees – will have to approve the PAG’s recommendation for further negotiations and, ultimately, a final deal if one is made.

Dale Smith, vice president of the grassroots group Save Our Hospital that formed in opposition to a hospital sale.

State Sen. Harper Peterson, D-New Hanover, who has been an outspoken critic about the process and last fall filed a complaint with the state’s AG office.

All three took part in a virtual town hall discussion Monday organized by Save Our Hospital and State Employees Association of North Carolina.

Thursday’s Partnership Advisory Group meeting starts at 5:30 p.m. at New Hanover County’s Government Center, 30 Government Center Drive, in the Andre Mallete Training Room.

The public can attend, but capacity will be limited to allow for social distancing. The meeting also will be streamed live on NHCTV.com and on NHCTV’s cable stations: Spectrum Channel 13 and Charter Channel 5.
