Wilmington Health MRI Scanners Earn Accreditations

By Staff Reports, posted Jan 4, 2019
Wilmington Health’s MRI scanner at the provider’s office at 1202 Medical Center Drive recently received accreditation by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission, according to a news release.

Wilmington Health’s mobile MRI unit at its Porters Neck location, 8108-B Market St., was also reaccredited by IAC.

Wilmington Health's MRI at the Medical Center Drive office is an Optima MR450w. The model combines the benefits of wide-bore imaging with the Geometry Embracing Method (GEM) suite, the release stated.

“The GEM suite is an integrated system that combines high-density radiofrequency surface coils and innovative software technologies designed to provide uncompromising image quality and increased patient comfort,” the release said.

The system offers sound-reduction technology and feet-first imaging, “comfort-enhancing features [that] help address some common causes of patient anxiety.”

The wide-bore diameter can accommodate up to 500 pounds.
