A groundbreaking ceremony Tuesday will mark the start of the medical component of a planned retirement community in Brunswick County.

A Novant Health family medicine clinic is set to be the first building in an expected 50-acre health and wellness medical campus, part of the planned mixed-use development of Pine Forest Plantation at Midway Road and N.C. 211.

Following the 9 a.m. groundbreaking ceremony at 3844 Southport-Supply Road in Bolivia, on Tuesday, the public is invited to a reception at the nearby Holiday Inn Express & Suites at 3400 Southport-Supply Road to chat with Novant Health representatives and Pine Forest Plantation developers.

According to Austin Koon of Davis Moore Capital, a principal member of the group developing Pine Forest Plantation, the Novant Health primary care facility should be operational by late 2017.

Novant and the developers of Pine Forest Plantation announced the new clinic in March. Also in the plan for Pine Forest are a mix of housing types and commercial development.
