A city-owned property that was once slated for a redevelopment project is for sale, and the deadline to submit bids is quickly approaching.

The site of the former Wave Transit maintenance facility at 1110 Castle St. is undergoing a sealed bid process, with submissions due March 9 by 3 p.m.

“The former bus maintenance facility is zoned [urban mixed-use] and has the potential to enhance the burgeoning Castle Street corridor,” a city spokesperson wrote in a notice Thursday. “Redevelopment of the site is consistent with the city’s long-range plan for Castle Street.”

Above-ground hazardous materials have already been abated on the site as part of the city’s effort to increase its developability. Bids for the property opened on Jan. 17.

City staff are slated to present all completed bids to council on March 21 at the regular meeting. At the following meeting, on April 4, city council could accept the highest responsive bidder or opt to reject all bids.

Submit inquiries about the site to the city’s director of economic development, Aubrey Parsley, who can be reached at (910) 200-8382 or [email protected]
