Crofton’s Pretzels is gearing up for a change of location in the spring.

Customers looking to get a pretzel fix can check out its new location come April or May. Owner and veteran Aidan Crofton plans to relocate his restaurant, an artisan soft pretzel bakery, to a new site on Market Street.

The new 2,000-square-foot space will double the size of the existing site on Oleander Drive. The bakery will take over a corner space at the intersection of 17th and Market streets and will be within a few blocks of New Hanover High School.

“We are relocating to a larger, more visible location better suited for growing our business in terms of both retail and distribution,” Crofton said. “We are going to add beer and wine at our new restaurant.

“And be on the lookout for new pretzel-based items as well,” he said.

The last day the company plans to be at its original location is March 7.

Since 2019, Crofton’s has been serving up artisan soft pretzels in over 20 different flavor combinations.

Crofton relocated to Wilmington from Philadelphia and brought with him a touch of his childhood. He grew up eating the soft pretzels, which he said are popular in Pennsylvania. “I worked on a recipe over the years, and once I had it, I decided to open my shop,” Crofton says.

Each pretzel is vegan, and the classic soft pretzels are made with just flour, water, yeast and salt. Crofton makes the dough by hand daily, and all pretzels are twisted, salted and baked.

Savory choices include cheese and pepperoni, cheddar jalapeno and spinach artichoke Parmesan. Nutella marshmallow, apple and cheesecake are options for customers with a sweet tooth. Drinks and dip selections constantly rotate.
