Infinity Payment Systems, a family- and veteran-owned credit card processing firm, recently announced the opening of its new 25,000-square-foot office in the Castle Hayne area.

"This significant expansion will bring over 50 high-paying jobs to the region, reinforcing the company’s position as a key player in the rapidly growing financial technology (fintech) sector," according to a news release.

The new facility at 5614 Barbados Blvd. marks a major milestone for Infinity Payment Systems, which has been serving businesses with credit card processing services since John Thorpe founded the company in 1999, the release stated. The general contractor for the Castle Hayne office is John's brother James Thorpe of Thorpe Construction.

Infinity Payment Systems, which currently has about 36 employees, previously leased 3,000 square feet in an office building at 1430 Commonwealth Drive off Military Cutoff and Eastwood roads near Wrightsville Beach.

"We started quickly realizing that we were busting at the seams there, and new plans for the company started coming up – we needed our own space," said Thomas Plummer, executive vice president at Infinity Payment Systems, who is John Thorpe's nephew. Kyle Thorpe, John's son, is the company's CEO.

The firm offers merchant and point-of-sale solutions for mostly local businesses in Wilmington and surrounding areas, Plummer said, with the goal of keeping "face-to-face, boots-on-the-ground relationships." He said Infinity Payment Systems focuses on "leading with customer service and viewing ourselves more as consultants and partnering with these small and mid-sized businesses. We also focus on educating and answering questions that a business owner has about our industry."

John Thorpe, who is also chairman of the company, stated in the release, “This expansion not only allows us to provide even better services to our clients but also creates incredible job opportunities for talented professionals in our community. We are committed to fostering a dynamic and supportive work environment that will drive our continued success.”
