Evidence of nCino’s growth was on full display Thursday as the banking software company cut the ribbon on its newest office building in the Mayfaire office park.

nCino 2, as it’s called, boasts 90,000 square feet of office space and contains conference rooms, cubicles, offices for business visitors, a kitchen and a “stairtorium,” an amphitheater-like gathering space near the building’s entry.

“There’s a lot of Wilmington in this design, which also reflects our [company] culture,” nCino CEO Pierre Naudé said at the event, adding that the design team for the banking software firm "understands our mission and where we want to go." The building’s layout, space allocations and features are designed to promote collaboration, inspiration and interaction, but also fun, he added.

Wilmington Mayor Bill Saffo was present to wield the scissors and to echo Naudé’s comments about the city’s growth over the past decade from a tourist destination to a regional tech hub that now attracts new talent from all over the U.S.

“Companies like nCino have made that change,” he said, adding that as firms such as nCino, Live Oak Bank and PPD have invested in the community, the city has invested in features such as the Riverfront Park, Live Oak Bank Pavilion and recreational trails to enhance residents’ quality of life.

nCino 2 is the fourth building on the company’s Mayfaire campus. The original, nCino 1, holds 90,000 square feet of space containing the company’s headquarters offices, conference spaces and a kitchen on each floor. It also holds a Bitty & Beau’s coffee shop and the company’s “Fun Zone,” used for special events and affinity group meetings.

nCino 3, a short walk from the headquarters building, holds 40,000 square feet of conference rooms, offices and open workspaces. The company uses nCino 4, a 20,000-square-foot space, as a conference center and accommodates additional employee needs throughout the year. New employees go through Bootcamp and other orientation activities in this building.

Cloud Real Estate Holdings LLC, a Wilmington investment group comprised of entities affiliated with Cameron Management, SHP Acquisitions and Trask Land Co., entered into an agreement with nCino year to acquire, lease back and develop the expansion, according to an announcement last year.

Cloud Real Estate bought the property at 6770 Parker Farm Drive, including the existing nCino headquarters building, for $16.3 million at the end of 2020. Trask Land Co. is the developer for the expansion, Cameron Management is serving as co-developer, the general contractor is Thomas Construction Group and the architect is LS3P.

The company continues its strong hiring streak and now employs more than 1,750 people globally, with more than 650 of them based on the Mayfaire campus and another 270 or so working remotely in this area.

nCino’s own internal design team, working with vendors, architects and designers, created a facility that boasts a number of green features. The most obvious is a 25-foot-high preserved moss wall in the lobby. Building finishes include reclaimed wood from local waterways. “Treehouse” balconies integrate the outdoors into the workspaces, with seating available beneath a preserved oak tree.

Artwork features preserved sea life specimens in driftwood frames, set against rippling wall surfaces. Building materials were chosen for their sustainability and healthful features; installation features conformed to requirements within the WELL Building Standard.

A new parking deck adjacent to nCino’s headquarters building enables the company “to use a smaller footprint to house [about] 600 parking spaces and reduce the impact on the site,” a company summary stated.

At the end of nCino’s second quarter, July 31, it reported more than 1,750 customers. The company maintains offices in Salt Lake City, Toronto, Tokyo, Sydney, Melbourne, London, Paris and Madrid.
