Wilmington will have a presence next week at one of the largest commercial real estate conferences in the world, according to a news release from Cape Fear Realtors.

Tony Harrington, of the Property Shop International Realty and CFR's president-elect, is attending the 30th edition of Le marché international des professionnels de l’immobilier (The International Market for Real Estate Professionals, or MIPIM).

The event takes place March 12-15 in Cannes, France, and will include tens of thousands of investors, corporate end-users, local authorities, hospitality professionals, industrial and logistics players and other real estate professionals, the release stated.

“This experience is a must-attend for those wanting to have a mark on the world footprint,” said Harrington, one of five delegates representing NC Realtors as well as NC Realtors Global Network.

This year's trip to MIPIM is the second for Harrington, who serves as chairman of the NC Realtors Economic Development Committee and past chairman of the state’s Platinum Award winning Global Network. He is also on the Realtors Commercial Alliance Board of Governors and Legislative Committee.

“In 2016, NC Realtors leadership created the association’s Economic Development Committee. In 2018, the association created its Global Network to then educate our members about international investment opportunities and how to better connect with the global market," Harrington said in the release. "The MIPIM event was a natural fit to be a part of so that we could begin creating relationships on the International level and begin to attract investors to our state.”

Other attending organizations making up the United States Pavilion are Florida Realtors, Texas Realtors, New York State Association of Realtors, Beverly Hills/Greater Los Angeles Association of Realtors, and more than a dozen other local and state associations throughout the United States, according to the release.

"Cape Fear Realtors has announced the creation of its own Global/Economic Development Council for 2019," the release stated, "with the goal of educating its members and enhancing local economic development efforts."
