Scalise, Waddell Appointed To UNCW Board Of Trustees

New Hanover County Commissioner Dane Scalise and Wilmington City Councilman Luke Waddell have been appointed to serve four-year terms on the University of North Carolina Wilmington Board of Trustees.

The appointments came during the May 15 meeting of the University of North Carolina System Board of Governors, according to a news releases.

UNCW's 13-member board includes eight people selected by the UNC System Board of Governor, along with four who are appointed by the North Carolina General Assembly and one by the president of the UNCW student body, the releases stated.

Scalise (pictured at right) becomes the most recent New Hanover County Commissioner to serve simultaneously on the UNCW Board of Trustees. Woody White previously served as a county commissioner and trustee from 2018 to 2020, according to the county's release.  

Appointed to the NHC Board of Commissioners in April 2023, Scalise was elected to a four-year term in 2024.

Waddell (pictured at left) has served on the Wilmington City Council since 2021 and represents the city on the Wilmington Urban Area Metropolitan Planning Organization and the Cape Fear Public Utility Authority. Outside of public service, he is the founder and CEO of Cadence Realty Corp.
